Oxymetazoline (decongestant) - intranasal application results in the constriction of dilated arteries and reduction in nasal blood flow and thereby nasal congestion
- obstructed ear tubes may be opened
-may cause rebound vasodilation and congestion with prolonged use
Adults:
1-2 sprays in each nostril 2 to 3 times daily
Not for use in children
Recommend when: fast acting and long lasting relief of nasal congestion is required
Advice to patient: Treatment should not exceed 5 days
